The Bright Future for LED Lighting

Most organizations have been moving to replace their traditional incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). But, just when you were adjusting to CFL bulbs, a new and perhaps happier lighting solution is getting more popular — the LED.

Designed as a durable technology with minimal maintenance costs, LEDs can easily match the lumens of more traditional bulbs because LED light is simply brighter than the alternatives.

In addition to domestic applications for some time now, innovations in LED lighting have opened up new avenues for LED applications in all sorts of other areas - street lights and use in industry.

LED lighting is the future for cities. According to an independent pilot program conducted in 12 cities around the world, it indicates that the inhabitants of the participating pilot cities prefer LED lighting, citing social and environmental benefits.

For industries, these aren’t minor savings and LEDs can hugely impact upon the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of a warehouse, factory or any other industrial building.

The real problem is that five or six good-size LED recessed-can lights could cost as much as filet for two in an expensive steak house. However, LEDs could nudge other bulbs into extinction if their prices keep dropping and technology keeps improving.
